it features friends from the early years of NYC. I got here in Jan of 1988, I met Tom and Karen in summer of 1989. Lots of missing faces and missed connections here these days, but we sure had dreams back then. I love you wall.

This is the time, and a record of the time Kenny Jenkins has lived in NYC. Originally a site for a monthly party featuring DJ sets from Rob Rives and K-Tel Jenkins, now the blog is for aggregating my life in tiny blurbs.

The Hall of Mirrors
When I was in high school I was on the debate and forensic teams. Our school teams were managed by the librarian, Pat Brown, who was a serious mentor to me in my teen years.
I remember us driving in fractured groups to a meet in Tennessee. I was with Bobby Kingery and Robin Robertson, who were a platonic couple through those years. My main memory of the trip was the winding roads up the side of the mountain, the slow electric musicbox feeling of that Kraftwerk album and the sheets of white snow layering a dreamlike atmosphere to the trip.

Culling that record collection.
So after a decade of "wanting to do" I finally got off ass to do something with the excess vinyl I've been bequeathed with over the years. Id passed about 10-12 crates worth to Garnett while he was still with us in the slope so he could sell them on the sidewalk and make something, but that was scratching the surface. Last week I took the initiative and ordered 25 13" boxes to pack away the doubles and gifts, the bad purchases and all the acts I was supposed to like but never ended up taking a shine.
Parallel to that, work has been challenging at my 20th year at "the agency" A supervisor AD gave me a cute little sketchbook for the holiday and I've been using it to do some analog sketching, Ill be sharing those here over the next weeks, with a little backgrounder on what the drawing was supposed to be referencing. This first one is me climbing up and down pulling records to pack up, the year here is 2019.
